Can DRM applications be customized?
Absolutely. All DRM rules can be customized to meet your specific needs.
Can I create an application that begins on a specific date?
Yes you can. For example, let's say that you have a video that you want to release on a certain date. A DRM application can be created that will allow you to circulate your video prior to the start date, but it will not be viewable until the date you specify.
Can I create an application that ends on a specific date?
Of course. Just as you can specify the start date of a license, you can specify an expiration date after which the file will no longer be playable.
What if someone rolls back the time and date on their computer?
NatNetDRM's proprietary licensing technology tracks time so that it does not matter what time and date the user's computer may show, the expiration date will still occur.
Can I specify the number of times a file can be played before it expires?
Yes you can. If you don't wish to set a specific expiration date of a license you can set the number of times a file can be played before it expires.
What if someone burns the file to a CD or portable device?
You can choose whether or not to allow a file to be burned to CD or portable devices. If you do not wish to allow someone to burn your video to a CD, you can keep them from doing so with NatNetDRM.
Can I apply different applications to the same file?
Yes you can. For example, if you have a subscription based site you may wish to encrypt the files inside your members area with the Membership Verification Application. If you also have a weekly newsletter you can encrypt copies of those same files with the Email Collection Application and circulate those files on the various P2P networks in order to market your newsletter.
Can I make changes to an application?
Absolutely. One of the major benefits to DRM is that the application resides on the licensing server. The file simply contacts the licensing server for instructions. If the details of that application need to be changed for any reason, those changes will take effect on all videos currently encrypted with that application. In other words, if you make a change to one of your existing rules you will not have to re-encrypt or upload any new files. The changes will take effect for any new files you encrypt, as well as all the videos currently in circulation.
What are the system requirements for DRM?
DRM works with Windows Media Player 7.1 or greater. Virtually 95% of your users will have the proper Media Player to work with DRM.
